Keto Southern Sausage Gravy
This Keto take on southern style gravy is rich, creamy and loaded with seasoning and tender morsels of sausage meat. This Keto adapted gravy is thickened with dairy without the need for flours or additional thickening agents. Perfect served over Keto biscuits!
How to Make Keto Southern Gravy
Our easy Keto southern gravy is prepared firstly by browning sausage meat with some aromatic dried sage. Soft cream cheese is then added to provide some thickness to the sauce. Chicken stock, heavy cream and a hint of nutmeg are combined and simmered until the gravy has thickened and reduced.
Serving Suggestions
Our Keto gravy makes a great addition to your favourite southern inspired meals. Perfect served with Keto chicken or pork recipes. This also makes a decadent addition to a classic roast chicken dinner.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over a medium/high heat. Carefully squeeze the sausage meat from its casing and into the skillet. Add the dried sage. Cook the sausage meat through until it is browned all over. As the meat cooks, break it up into small chunks with a wooden spoon, stirring to combine with the sage.Step 2
Add the cream cheese spread to the skillet. Stir continuously until melted down. Stir the melted cream cheese and sausage meat together to combine.Step 3
Add the chicken stock to the skillet. Stir well, incorporating the stock with the melted cream cheese. You may add a little salt and pepper if desired, depending on how seasoned your stock is. Bring to a boil and simmer for a minute to reduce.Step 4
Add the heavy cream to the skillet along with the nutmeg. Stir well to combine. Simmer the sauce for 3-4 minutes or until reduced, piping hot through and well thickened. The sauce should be thick and creamy. Taste and adjust seasonings if required.

Not bad, but I added half cream cheese and half heavy whipping cream, omitted the nutmeg, and added a small amount of evaporated milk, for thinning. Salt, and pepper for taste.

Tasted like chicken stock. Never thickened either. Not good. Find another recipe if your used to thick southern gravy.

This is absolutely delicious! I recently started the Keto Diet and was trying to figure out how I could make sausage gravy. I like to pour it over scrambled eggs. I am not sure if this will work or not but I put a portion in the freezer and will see how it does.
