Easy Keto Bread Rolls

14 ratings

These easy Keto bread rolls are simple to prepare without the need for a bread maker or any proving. The ingredients are quickly combined in a food processor until they form a pliable dough. The bread rolls are then baked in the oven until firm and golden. These make a great low carb alternative to traditional bread rolls.

Keto Bread Roll Ingredients

Our Keto bread rolls are prepared from a coconut flour fathead dough. The flour is combined with shredded mozzarella, parmesan, fresh rosemary, butter, cream cheese, xanthan gum, baking soda and a little apple cider vinegar. The ingredients are then bound with an egg to form a dough.

Serving Suggestions

These Keto bread rolls are a great guilt free bread alternative, perfect filled with your favorite lunch fillings. They also make a great brunch option filled with crispy bacon. Alternatively serve with hot Keto soup for dipping!

  • Step 1

Add the coconut flour, mozzarella, salt, xanthan gum, baking soda and parmesan to a food processor. Finely chop the rosemary and add. Pulse everything together to combine, forming a chunky crumb.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Add the cream cheese, butter and vinegar. Blend to combine. The crumb should now be starting to thicken and bind a little.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Crack the egg into the food processor. Blend well with the other ingredients. A pliable dough should now have formed in the food processor.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a shallow oven tray with baking paper. Scoop the dough out from the food processor. Divide into four even sized portions and use your hands to roll each portion into a ball. Place each ball of dough on the prepared baking tray and press each one down just a little with your palm to create a bun shape.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Transfer the tray to the oven and bake for 15 minutes. The rolls should be firm to touch and golden brown all over. Set the rolls to one side to cool completely and firm further.

Many said too salty.. maybe instead of baking "soda" ingredient should be baking "powder" ?

I also halved the salt! They remind me of Red Lobster biscuits. A nice to have in our keto arsenal 👍🏻

I was looking for a recipe to use up my coconut flour and this recipe fitted the bill. It was very tasty but I think next time I make it I will incorporate flaxseed and a bit of almond flour. During making it wasn't as moist as I thought it would be so I added a tablespoon of double cream But overall very nice decent size role. I also think it would work as a sweet bun with some erythitorol added I'm going to experiment

There are a lot of ingredients in this recipe for four small rolls. They tasted OK, cheesy and dense so one really fills you up when topped with butter.

These are great! I reduced the salt a bit to about 3/4 tsp, added 2 TBSP flax seed, and swapped one tsp of rosemary with 1 tsp of Italian seasoning. Came out perfect, moist but bread like and delicious flavor.

After reading your comment I've used sour cream (mine was garlic chives sour cream), then added Italian seasoning and more butter as you suggested. It tastes delicious. Only down side was I didn't recognise how salty is the sourcream I've bought was. (next time I'm doing with the same ingredients but without adding salt)

I live in a higher elevation 7000 feet what should I have changed in the ingredients to make it so they didn’t fall apart in the baking process, Sadly mine don’t look anything like the picture they are all cracked apart

What a bread alternative game changer. Absolutely delicious, flavoursome and filling. My none Keto friends love this too. So it’s something we can all enjoy for our girlie get-togethers. Also they take minutes to prepare and bake. 🍞👍
