Keto Chocolate Covered Walnuts
Finding healthy crunchy kids' snacks that are delicious and easy to make can be challenging. However, these Keto chocolate-covered walnuts are a great solution that checks all the boxes and are made with only a few simple ingredients. The crunchy texture of the walnuts, combined with the rich, dark chocolate, and a sprinkle of fun, colorful sprinkles, makes for a perfect snack for kids (and adults!) of all ages.
What other types of crunchy snacks would kids enjoy?
There are many delicious and crunchy low-carb snacks that kids enjoy. Feel free to use nuts like almonds, pecans, and macadamia nuts instead of walnuts for this particular snack. Cheese chips made from shredded cheese and baked until crispy are a great snack for kids as well! Other snack ideas include pork rinds, kale chips, and roasted seaweed.
How should I store these chocolate-covered walnuts?
To preserve the taste and texture of these crunchy Keto snacks, storing them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, is essential. To store these crunchy Keto snacks, transfer them to an airtight container once the chocolate has set. These chocolate-covered walnuts can last for up to 3 days in the pantry or cupboard. If you live in a hot or humid climate, you may want to store them in the refrigerator to prevent the chocolate from melting.
What type of chocolate is best for making these crunchy Keto snacks?
When making these Keto chocolate-covered nuts, it is best to use dark chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa solids and low sugar content. Dark chocolate that contains at least 70% cocoa solids has a rich, intense flavor that pairs well with the nuttiness of almonds, pecans, walnuts, or macadamia nuts. Additionally, the higher the cocoa content, the lower the sugar content, making it a better option for those following a Keto diet. A good rule of thumb is to look for dark chocolate with no more than 5 grams of sugar per serving to keep the overall carb count low.
