Keto Air Fryer Salami Mozzarella Sticks
This easy Keto salami recipe is a fun way to get your Keto macros in without spending too much time in the kitchen! Keto salami and cheese recipes have little to no carbs, a small amount of protein, and fat from the cheese and salami. Wrap your favorite brand of salami slices around natural pieces of string cheese. Cook them in your air fryer to make simple bite-sized mozzarella sticks! You can pull them apart to reveal gooey, melted mozzarella cheese inside a crispy fried salami coating. Whenever you need a snack or just need to add more calories to a meal, you can make as many Keto mozzarella sticks as you want.
Substituting String Cheese With Mozzarella Cheese
Depending on where you live, you may not have generic “string cheese” available to you. The truth is, string cheese works so well in an air fryer because it has been processed. You can substitute string cheese with brick-style mozzarella cheese. Don’t use whole milk mozzarella that comes in balls because this style won’t melt in the same way.
Directions For Mozzarella Cheese Substitution
Slice brick-style mozzarella cheese into logs 2 ½” long and ½” thick in either direction. Wrap in the salami as directed. When cooking the mozzarella sticks in the air fryer, begin with 5 minutes and continue cooking 1 minute at a time until they’re done. Depending on the brand and style of mozzarella cheese you use, your cooking time may differ from the recipe directions.

Step 1
To start, choose thin, pre-sliced salami. The salami needs to be flexible and all the pieces need to be equivalent to each other. Choose all-natural mozzarella string cheese, if possible. Cut each stick of cheese into two short halves. If you don’t have string cheese available to you, you can use brick-style mozzarella cheese. Refer to the tips in the recipe introduction if you make the substitution.Step 2
Wrap a slice of salami around each piece of string cheese. Roll the string cheese in the salami, folding the salami like you would a tortilla for a burrito. When you tuck the ends of the salami over the cheese, use a toothpick to secure the salami in place by pushing it through one end of the cheese to the other. Wrap all the pieces of cheese, and arrange them on an air fryer tray.Step 3
Preheat your air fryer to 365 degrees. Cook the mozzarella sticks for only 6-7 minutes. Look for melted cheese and browned edges all over the salami. Keep an eye on your air fryer while it’s cooking so you don’t overcook the mozzarella sticks. Overcooked mozzarella sticks will look deflated, very dark in some areas, and the salami and cheese will both harden from losing moisture. Remove the toothpicks before serving warm.
