Ingredients

  • Bacon

    Bacon

    2 slice - 6" long

  • Cheddar Cheese

    Cheddar Cheese

    8 tablespoon, shredded

Recipe Steps

steps 4

12 min

  • Step 1

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees and line a small sheet pan with parchment paper. Cook 2 strips of bacon to a crisp (crispy bacon is needed for this recipe). After allowing the bacon to cool for a couple minutes, chop it into bacon bits.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

On the sheet tray, arrange 8 tablespoons of shredded cheddar into 8 discs. Spread the cheese out into thin layers, but don’t let the edges touch each other.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Sprinkle the bacon bits over the center of each cheese circle.
  • Step 4

Bake the cheese crisps for 6-7 minutes, or until the cheese has completely melted and bubbled, and turns lightly golden. You may want to leave your oven light on and keep a close eye on the cheese crisps to avoid burning. Enjoy once the cheese crisps have cooled and hardened!

Why would 1 serving, 1 T cheese, have 2 carbs? And it’s way too many calories for one serving.

        It’s 2g net carbs per 8 crisps.

I make them all the time….cheese only. Any hard cheese. Cut a slice into 6 pieces and space them on parchment paper to separate Microwave for 90 seconds. Result: yummy crisp crackers. You can use shredded or block cheese as well in equivalent amounts.

I’m new to keto. Is the macro on top per serving? 1 chip correct? How many calories is per 1 chip. I’m confused 😌

No, it’s for the eight chips. Scroll up to the top where it says ABOUT THIS RECIPE right under that it says SERVING 1 X 8. Good luck on your Keto journey. It’s done wonders for me.

The pie chart macros at the top reflect 1 serving. The serving size is listed under the pie chart. For this recipe, 1 serving = 8 chips

Does anyone know how long these would last if I were to make a big batch and store them in a zip lock bag?

To our friends down-under... :) In the states the typical color for Cheddar Cheese here is that orange color; however, you can also find a white cheddar cheese like Cabbot's Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese (No added orange color). I would guess the white cheddar without the added orange color would be a more healthier option.

American cheese is a very high fat colour added artificial concoction a bit akin to Kraft cheese slices. British/Australian/NZ have proper cheddar and other cheeses so the melt is a little slower but you will get a much better less greasy result in the end. It will also be paler and less salty.

I'm confused on the term cheddar as our cheese in Australia doesn't look the same could you show a picture of the cheese you use Thanks
