Ultimate Keto Lox and Cream Cheese Rolls
Particularly for Sunday brunch, lox and cream cheese can be a real treat. Luckily, you can cut out the ultra-carb bagel and still enjoy the flavors! The cream cheese mixture holds all the flavors you would normally enjoy. The filling includes capers, red onion, chives, and lemon. You can add other ingredients you like on your usual lox and bagel sandwich, such as dill. Why not try adding a little scrambled egg to the rolls to make it a hot breakfast? While these lox and cream cheese rolls make for a fantastic Keto breakfast, they fit the bill for a midday snack as well! Make them in the morning, keep the rolls in your refrigerator, and snack on them throughout the day. Eat them after a workout to put all those fat grams to use too.
What is lox?
Lox is thinly-sliced salmon that can be layered on sandwiches and often bagels. Lox in its truest form is eaten brined. This means the proteins will be cooked, but the salmon will appear and taste very raw. However, smoked salmon is delicious and would work well in this Keto recipe.
Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil
The fish oil in salmon or lox is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. This type of fat is polyunsaturated fat, which is considered to be extremely healthy for you. Other foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids are tuna, chia seeds, and walnuts.
Benefits of fish oil
Fish oil is believed to fight the bad cholesterol in your body and replace it with good cholesterol. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil are fantastic for heart and cardiovascular health. Fatty acids can reduce the chances of heart attacks or strokes and generally lower blood pressure.

Ingredients
Cream Cheese
3 ounce
Chives
2 tsp, chopped
Capers
1 teaspoon
Red Onions
½ tablespoon
Lemon Peel Raw
½ tsp
Lox
3 oz, boneless
Recipe Steps

Step 1
Make sure your cream cheese is soft before using it. Otherwise, use a fork to loosen it up in a bowl. You can also briefly microwave the cream cheese, but be careful. If the cream cheese is too warm it will squeeze out of your lox rolls!Step 2
Next, chop the chives, capers, and red onion into very small pieces. Combine these ingredients with the lemon zest in your cream cheese bowl. Use your fork to fold over the cream cheese until you have a consistent mixture.Step 3
Layout the slices of lox flat on a board. Cut the slices into ½-ounce pieces. Then, spread out the cream cheese mixture as pictured.Step 4
Starting from one end of the lox, gently roll it up. Repeat until all the pieces of lox are rolled up. Enjoy chilled with extra lemon zest or as is.

Love love love. Can’t express how much I love it. However I don’t mess with rolling it up. Too much work for someone lazy like me! I just take the salmon and spread the softened cream cheese over the top of it and cut it and eat it with a fork. Easy peasy and so so good.

I'm a pretty big salmon person and this was delicious but it was definitely hard to spread. I'll have to try and find a thicker Lox because my store only has paper thin slices.

Using whipped cream cheese makes it easier

Whip the cream cheese first. Let it come to room temp. Or you can buy the already whipped cream cheese. That’s how I make it spreadable.

Maybe try using an icing bag, may be easier to get coverage.

I felt the cheese needed seasoning. A good pinch of salt made all the difference. It's also really good with salami. 👌

Very tasty and guilt free. Even before I was keto, I used to scrape the lox toppings off to eat and toss out the bagel when no one was looking. No need for that with this recipe!
