Keto French Toast

8 ratings

French toast is one of my favorite breakfast items! If you have been missing French toast, this recipe is perfect for you. Using the Keto Loaf Bread recipe on this site, it is a great way to use up leftover bread. I found the bread is easiest to work with if it has been frozen and then slightly defrosted. I allowed the sliced pieces of bread to come to room temperature slightly but were still cold when dipped into the custard. Each slice is then browned to perfection on each side. Serve with a good amount of salted butter and sugar-free syrup or jam! The recipe uses 1/2 a loaf of the Keto Loaf Bread (8 servings).

  • Step 1

This recipe is best done using a loaf that has been frozen. Allow the loaf to thaw until it is soft enough to slice. Slice ½ a loaf into 8 slices. Allow the slices to continue warming at room temperature. They are ready to dip into the custard when they are still cold, but slightly soft in the center. Using chilled pieces of bread will help them from breaking apart. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the eggs, heavy cream, sweetener, cinnamon, vanilla extract and a good pinch of salt. Whisk well to combine.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Heat a large non-stick saute pan, over medium-high heat. In the meantime, I used a spatula to gently place the slices of bread in the custard mixture. Soak the bread on one side for a few seconds, then flip the bread on the other side using the spatula.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Add 2 teaspoons of avocado oil in the pan. Swirl the pan to coat it with the oil. Gently place the toast in a hot pan. Repeat with more slices of bread. I was able to fit 4 slices into my pan. Once all the slices of bread are in the pan, be sure to keep an eye on the temperature. Lower the heat if they start to brown too quickly.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Cook each slice of bread for about 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove the bread from the pan and repeat cooking the other slices of bread in the same manner.
    Step 4

I replaced the heavy whipping cream with full fat coconut cream as I can't have dairy. So good! I'll definitely be making this more often

Use a saute pan (frying pan, skillet) on the stove top. Hope this helps.

A nice break from plain eggs. Maple Grove Farms syrup, Keto loaf bread and coconut oil worked well and made it quick and easy. A great way to start the day with high fat content if having trouble, like me, getting the fat ratio to be as high as it should.

I just had my keto bread in the fridge. Put unsalted organic butter in the pan with the bread. Anyone else try it just this way?

I love this but instead of making keto bread. I used the keto artisan bread. 0g net carbs. And i didnt add the sugar replacement. The low carb syrup i use makes it sweet.
