Keto Shepherd's Pie

741 ratings

No matter the weather, a classic shepherd's pie can bring comfort to anyone eating it. By preparing a recipe of cauliflower mash in advance, you can make a big shepherd's pie that will satisfy a whole family! You don’t have to be on a diet to enjoy this meal, either. A savory meat and veggie filling is topped off with creamy mashed cauliflower and melty cheese.

This was amazing. The cauliflower wasn’t wet at all. Would definitely recommend as it’s really tasty.

The key to getting a good potato-like cauliflower mash is to squeeze as much water as humanly possible out of the cauliflower after cooking and before adding any other ingredients. I cook the florettes in my Instant Pot with my fresh garlic cloves, then put them in a strainer lined with double cheese cloth or a clean tea towel and when it's cool enough to handle, start twisting the cloth as tight as I possibly can around the cauliflower to squeeze all of the water out. Only then do I add my butter, sour cream, cream cheese, and other ingredients and throw it all in the processor. Leftovers reheat beautifully and are never watery.

I fry mine in a dry frying pan to get the water out after I cook the cauliflower.

I don’t even do all that. I just drain it well, put it back in my pan with the flame on and let the rest of the water evaporate! Easy peasy and delicious! I’ve had people think it was mashed potatoes 🤣 as far as measurements go, I just add till I like the taste lol. I cook the cauliflower in water with some chicken powdered bullion in it.

If you don’t mind sharing, what portions of butter, sour cream, cream cheese, and other do you use for your cauliflower mash? Or is this another recipe within the app?

Love this recipe. I'm new to keto and was sceptical about cauliflower mash topping, but this was soooo tasty and easy to make.

Made this for my family and it was very yummy. I can say, if you’re able to make the cauliflower mash from scratch, it tastes much better than the store bought kind.

Love this recipe. Didn't have any fresh carrots so added tinned carrots and peas (drained). Absolutely delicious. Had a slice of the keto loaf. Great meal

We loved this recipe. I added more of my spices to the beef, paprika, dried chillies, ground rosemary, onion powder, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Lots of flavour. I also skipped the carrots and served it on top of green beans instead. Delicious, definitely on my polish to make again.

This Cottage pie is pretty bland, definitely recommend adding some other spices. (Onion powder, garlic powder, more pepper.). I make this as a Hunter’s Pie with ground venison or elk for a leaner fat profile and higher protein content.

A little bland. Had to doctor it up with some spices.
