The Ultimate Keto Chocolate Milkshake

17 ratings

This indulgent milkshake is deliciously satisfying, requires 5 ingredients, and can be whipped up in minutes. Not only is this beverage tasty, but it is also sugar-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian. It is a family-friendly drink that both kids and adults can enjoy.

How to make this Keto milkshake?

This recipe starts with ice cubes and sugar-free vanilla ice cream. You can use whichever ice cream brand you prefer, but we are using Breyer’s for this recipe. The heavy cream adds brings this milkshake together and makes it ultra-creamy, but you can replace it with almond milk for a lighter version. The chocolate element in this recipe comes from sugar-free chocolate syrup, which takes this milkshake to another level. Simply blend all the ingredients together in a blender-proof cup or a blender! This recipe can be prepared in less than 5 minutes.

What are some variations to this recipe?

This recipe is so versatile that you can create many flavors out of it. You can also add a little bit of instant coffee to get a mocha-flavored Keto beverage or a little bit of sugar-free caramel syrup for another layer of flavor. You can also add peanut butter, frozen cherries, peppermint extract for a perfect pairing.

What are other sweetener options that work in this recipe?

This milkshake is already sweet because of the ice cream and chocolate syrup, but if you like your drink super sweet, then you can use any calorie-free liquid sweetener of your choice. If you use granulated or powdered sweeteners, they might not dissolve completely and sink to the bottom. The amount of sweetener you use depends on how sweet you like your smoothies.

FYI: If you are doing "Clean" Keto the ice cream has none friendly Keto ingredients. Maltodextrin is essentially a sweetener and a carbohydrate. Sucralose can raise insulin in "some" people not all.

I would use my almond milk in place of the ice cream

What if you can’t get Breyers carb smart ice cream I’m from Canada and it seems it’s only sold in the US. Is there something else Canadians can use.

I make what I call emergency ice cream. In good processor use cheese grater blade to shred still frozen strawberries. Lay on cookie sheet in thin layers with waxed paper between layers and freeze until hard Then add a handful to a bowl and pour heavy cream over top. Top with nuts

Love it! I used unsweetened almond milk instead of water, which made it more creamy.

If you are a strict keto follower, this is such an amazing and indulgent treat. I honestly did not know I could fit Breyers Carb Smart Ice Cream into my carb budget, so this is a wonderful bonus! Thank you so much for this recipe. It’s delicious!

Just be careful it has maltitol as its sweetener and comes with digestive issues for many. And often it spikes insulin

Even the hubby liked it. I removed the ice cream, used 1 scoop of choc protein powder and added a tablespoon of vanilla SF Torani.
