Keto Seven Spice Chicken Drumsticks

42 ratings

For a simple lunch or dinner entree, these chicken drumsticks come together in a snap. Not to be confused with the store-bought seasoning, the seven spices flavoring this chicken are garlic, paprika, cayenne, mustard powder, and oregano (in addition to salt and pepper). A short marinade time makes life just that much simpler!

*Please note that you may need more olive oil than listed in the ingredients.

  • Step 1

Prepare the drunk sticks by removing the skin if necessary. Then, slice 2-3 cuts across the top of each leg.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

In a bowl, combine all the remaining ingredients. You will need up to ¼ cup of olive oil to create this marinade, but not all the olive oil will be consumed.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Place the chicken drum sticks and marinade in a large ziploc bag. Spread the marinade around in the bag until the chicken is completely coated. Roll the bag up and let the chicken marinate for 1 hour.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

After marinating, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray a glass baking dish with pan spray and place the chicken legs in the dish. You can pour any extra marinade over the chicken to get all the spices.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Bake the dish for 45 minutes. The outside should be slightly crisp, golden, and a meat thermometer should read 175 degrees internally.
    Step 5

Delicious though I used less than half the cayenne pepper which was enough for me. I kept the skin on which I am pleased with.

I like the drumsticks but with the skin 🤭 Does the skin have to be removed? Will that break my keto diet somehow? I don't think it's so harmful for loosing weight isn't it? :)

The skin is better to leave on.

I really wish I didn't have a math learning disability because I tried to split the baking time in half so I could turn the chicken, and goofed up my math, which caused me to overcook these by 10 minutes, slightly burning the spices, but it was still good! Next time I'll just leave them alone so I don't mess up the baking time.

This was excellent. I added more cayenne as I like spicer. I cooked mine in the air fryer for 23 mins at 400 and flipped them once half way through. Can't wait to make it again.

It says serving size is 1/2 a drumstick. Is that correct?

This was another great recipe and I will for sure make this again. My lady loved it. I made 16 some with the skin but most without. They was small so I did 2 per serving with some Broccoli and some with Green beans wow I am a chef now. Lol

We all loved it. Next time I will half the paper but I use fresh ground black pepper so it has a little more bite than preground pepper.

wow, it was delicious! i didn't have mustard powder so i used Dijon. I took the chicken out of the freezer one day before i should have, so once thawed, i just put them in the marinade so it was in there for about 18 hours. Definitely a keeper. thanks.

We used parsley for oregano but otherwise followed the recipe and it was great! Our little one even liked it!
