Keto Easy Chocolate French Toast

Kids and adults alike will be grabbing a piece of this chocolate Keto French toast recipe. You’d never know the difference between this Keto toast and regular French toast. Just follow the steps to easily prepare a chocolate batter and fry up triangle pieces of Keto bread. It seems obvious to serve French toast for breakfast or brunch, but why not turn it into the base of a Keto dessert as well? The sweet chocolate bread would be so yummy with a scoop of Keto ice cream or a topping of sweetened whipped cream. Syrup and berries work as a sweet dessert option too!

Suggested Keto French toast toppings

Keto French toast won’t taste complete without plenty of maple syrup. You can find Keto maple syrup at some grocery stores and online. If you have heavy whipping cream at home, make a simple Keto whipped cream to dollop on top. Some berries with the toast would also be Keto-friendly. Photographed with the French toast here are sugar-free maple syrup, mascarpone cheese, and cacao nibs.

What is in Keto bread?

Keto bread won’t be made with wheat flour, but it will commonly be made with almond flour and sometimes another gluten-free flour blend. Some brands make their Keto bread with eggs and some brands are vegan, so check the packaging of your Keto bread. There should never be added sugar unless a Keto-friendly sweetener is included in the ingredients.

Storage and leftovers

Once the chocolate Keto French toast is completely cooled, you can store dry leftover pieces in an airtight container in your fridge. To reheat the toast, you can microwave it, but you may be happier with the result if you reheat the toast pieces in a pan on the stove.

Recipe Steps

  • Step 1

Cut each slice of bread in half diagonally to make triangles. Each triangle is a serving. Next, whisk together heavy cream, eggs, vanilla extract, powdered erythritol, cinnamon, and cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl. Set your bread and batter next to your stove to create a coating station.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Heat just ¼ tablespoon of butter in a medium non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Dunk the first two triangle pieces of bread into your chocolate batter so they get really soaked while the butter is melting. Once the bread is saturated in batter, place the two pieces in your pan and cook them on both sides until toasted and browned.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Complete the batter and cooking process for all the bread, using about ¼ tablespoon of butter for every two pieces. While the chocolate Keto french toast is still warm (not hot), consider adding some extra toppings at your discretion. Keto-friendly topping suggestions are listed within the introduction of the recipe.

A half piece of bread is a serving!?!?! That’s a lot of work and ingredients for a half piece of bread. Just my thoughts.

Aldi sells keto bread, 13 grams of fiber=0 net carbs. I use a loaf a week. I use the red label. They also have an orange label with seeds.

That’s for regular breaks not keto bread though. If you have an Aldi’s grocery in your area they do a full line of keto breads and rolls that are suppose to be really good, so good it sells out fast!

Not that great considering that 1/2 slice of toast will have 7.8 carbs… I know 1/2 slice won’t cut it for me😐
