Keto Beef and Broccoli

21 ratings

Beef and broccoli is one of my all-time favorite takeout meals, but it is usually loaded with sugar. Sugar isn’t necessary to make this dish delicious, just a nice balance of flavors from the soy sauce and sesame seed oil will do. The recipe calls for black pepper, which is one of the key flavors to this dish. Try to use freshly cracked pepper...honestly, the more pepper, the better!

Can I Add Sweetener?

Traditional takeout beef recipes are usually loaded with sugars that are not Keto compliant. We have chosen to keep our Keto beef recipe simple with flavorings from low carb condiments. However, if you have a hankering for sweetness, you may add according to taste. We would recommend using a low carb maple syrup as this would complement the flavors of the dish perfectly. Simply add to taste. However, be sure to adjust your macros to account for any additions.

Serving Suggestions

Our easy Keto beef recipe makes a delicious low carb lunch or dinner option. If you would like to serve with additional sides, we recommend a plain cauliflower rice or a Keto egg fried rice. Alternatively, serve over a bed of zucchini or shirataki noodles. You will find an array of suitable accompaniments in our sides section.

Recipe Steps

  • Step 1

Wash and cut broccoli by cutting thick stems from the florets. If you’re using chinese broccoli cut the stems in half where the leaves begin and separate the two sections into separate piles. If using regular broccoli, cut the stems from the florets and use a vegetable peeler to peel thick skin from broccoli stems. Cut broccoli stems into ¾” slices on a bias and cut florets into manageable sizes. Mince some ginger too.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Slice the beef into thin strips. Preheat a large sauté pan or wok over high heat until hot. Add the oil. Add the beef and sauté until it’s halfway cooked. Add the salt, black pepper, oyster sauce, and tamari.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Add the broccoli stems and michiu wine and cover with a lid for 1-2 minutes. Take off the lid and add the florets and cook until they are nicely green and cooked through, and most of the liquid has evaporated. Drizzle on the sesame seed oil to serve.

This was really good. I would suggest cooking the broccoli separately and adding it to the meat right before eating. Otherwise the sauce gets absorbed into the broccoli. I served on top of cauliflower rice for me and regular rice for my husband. It's nice to have a dish that we both like.

I thought keto meant zero sugar? This is confusing.
