Can I use different types of sausage in this recipe?

Absolutely! While kielbasa adds a distinct flavor, feel free to experiment with other types of sausage such as chorizo, Italian sausage, or bratwurst to suit your taste preferences.

Is it necessary to use canned tomatoes, or can I use fresh ones?

Canned tomatoes are preferred in this recipe for their convenience and consistent flavor. However, you can certainly use fresh tomatoes if you prefer. Simply chop them up and adjust the cooking time accordingly to ensure they cook down properly.

What can I substitute for cajun seasoning if I don't have any on hand?

If you don't have cajun seasoning available, you can create your own blend using a combination of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, and thyme. Adjust the quantities to suit your taste preferences.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

While this dish is best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare the components ahead of time and assemble them when ready to eat. Store the cooked sausage and cabbage mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving.

Is this recipe suitable for meal prep?

Absolutely! This Keto One-Pan Kielbasa Cabbage recipe is perfect for meal prep. Simply divide the cooked sausage and cabbage mixture into individual meal containers and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat when ready to eat and enjoy a delicious and nutritious keto meal on the go.

Can I freeze leftovers?

While you can freeze leftovers, keep in mind that the texture of the cabbage may change slightly upon thawing and reheating. For best results, freeze the cooked sausage and cabbage mixture without the tomatoes. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating on the stovetop or in the microwave. Add fresh tomatoes and seasonings as needed for optimal flavor.

It is so simple a recipe, and the sausage makes it tasty! The cabbage is bulky and makes a generous portion on your plate. This is not high carb. It could be higher protein. Natural green or cruciferous vegetables and unprocessed meat are NOT contributing carbs. So, where are the carbs coming from? I suspect they come from the sausage, which is a processed meat. Sausages often have carbs added. But the sausage adds so much flavor! To keep this main course low carb, I would add something like a piece of unprocessed meat, plain eggs or cheese as a side to increase the protein.

The carbs come from the veggies. Cabbage has about 1.5 and the rest are from the tomatoes. (Actualky Tomatoes are considered a fruit.) but it does have natural sugars. &, luckily fiber

The serving size for protein is not realistic. 200 grams of sausage is 1-2 servings max. Is this meant to be a side dish? Otherwise the carbs are insanely high and it’s not keto

The sausage isn't the problem it's the veggies, specifically the tomatoes. My suggestion would be to up the sausage or add other protien (ground chx or tofu? Maybe?) and use only 1/2 the tomatoes.

One serving is 4.5 ounces is that a small amount? Is it difficult to find entrees with lower carb count so we don't go over our allotted number of carbs?
