Keto Peppermint Avocado Smoothie

256 ratings

This is a close alternative to having dessert for breakfast! Make this Keto smoothie recipe when you are craving something creamy and cool. Not only is the smoothie cooling, but a hint of peppermint flavor leaves your mouth feeling fresh too. You’ll find the perfect combo of avocado and peppermint in this smoothie, although it’s closer to a milkshake! Just a few other ingredients (vanilla almond milk, greek yogurt, and spinach) bring this mean, green smoothie together. There’s enough room for you to alter the ingredients as needed to your tastes, so you can alter the amount of peppermint and other flavors in the smoothie.

When's the best time to have this Keto smoothie?

This smoothie doesn’t have to be consumed for breakfast. Drink this peppermint avocado smoothie after a workout so the healthy fats refuel your body, as opposed to carbs. For the same reasons, this is a healthy smoothie to drink at lunchtime. You can even cut the recipe in half and enjoy a small smoothie as a Keto snack.

How to pick the perfect avocado for this recipe?

For this recipe, you can use slightly under-ripe avocados that are a little greener than normal. However, the closest you can get to a perfectly ripe avocado is ideal. Leave your avocados out at room temperature until they’re just close to feeling ripe. Then, put them in your refrigerator where they will stay the perfect texture for about 2 days. You can pull one out of the refrigerator, slice it open, and blend it into your smoothie.

What other ingredients can you add to this Keto-friendly smoothie?

You don’t want to add too much more to your smoothie. However, you can make a couple of changes to alter the taste to your preferences. If you’d like, replace the almond milk with oat milk or coconut milk. If you have carbs to spare, add a handful of blueberries to your smoothie for added antioxidants. Vanilla extract in lieu of peppermint extract can also change the flavors to your liking.

Not bad but needed to add Stevia. I like the peppermint!

I loved this! I used spring mix instead of spinach because that’s what I had. I also used peppermint flavor instead of peppermint extract. I use a bit of stevia glycerite for sweetness. It was very filling and satisfying.

Not my favorite… I used almond extract rather than peppermint. It was palatable, but won't make this again

Using vanilla extract instead of peppermint, handful of blueberries, and stevia made this smoothie delicious.

My go to avocado shake is fresh or frozen avocado, coconut milk, lime juice/ frozen cube of lime and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Can add a little fresh mint too. Yum

Considering it is an avocado smoothie, I'd have to admit the drink is refreshing and filling. Definitely an acquired texture.

This was way gross. It’s like drinking toothpaste.

I didn't have peppermint extract but used one mint leaf. Not a fan of the flavour. Texture was good though. Will try again without the mint.

I didn’t try the original recipe and followed suggestions in other reviews with a twist: kept the spinach, almond milk, avocado, and greek yogurt, but swapped out the peppermint extract for 10-12 fresh mint leaves, and chose a keto coconut flavored yogurt. I put about 1/6 of a cup of ice too. Super delicious and this will be one of my staples.

I would not recommend this smoothie. It's bland yet too strong. I tried some of the tips below and it did not help at all. I still could barely get half a cup down.

Awful, recipe would need a LOT of changes before this was good.

After reading reviews I greatly reduced the peppermint and added vanilla extract and stevia. Generally find this pretty tasteless. It’s not good but not terrible. It satisfies the macros and staves off hunger as it should.

Has become my go-to! Initially, took a little getting used to. After tweaking with fresh mint (instead of that oil), powdered cinnamon and cardamom, I took to it. Also switched out the spinach for a more neutral, refreshing flavor - English cucumber. Now, I’m using Three Trees brand pistachio milk. Since pistachio only has one more gram of carbs, I’m not concerned especially since the pistachio milk’s flavor lends the beverage a richer taste. A drop of stevia and vanilla make this it absolutely delicious and quite satisfying.

Use fresh mint leaves, lime juice and a tap of sugar free lime jello powder. A mojito smoothie. I also sneak in some raw cauliflower and chia seeds. This smoothie is divine.

Oh, man. I, too, wish I had read the reviews first. Next time I'll use fresh mint leaves and add erythritol. Tastes like mouthwash. Not great.
