Best Paleo Lemon Honey Salmon with Avocado
Salmon is a healthy fish that you should try to incorporate into your weekly meal plan once or twice a week because it is a great source of protein, DHA, and Omega-3 fatty acids. If you like salmon, you will love this Paleo dinner! Wild-caught salmon is seared on both sides and then joined together with freshly squeezed lemon juice, honey, and grated garlic. This lemon mixture turns into a nicely caramelized glaze that coats the salmon with a sweet and tart flavor. The salmon is served with an avocado and fresh orange. What we love about Paleo recipes is that it does not have to be complicated to be healthy or easy to make! This Paleo recipe will offer large amounts of potassium from the salmon, avocado, and orange.
What is the best kind of salmon for this dish?
We like to find wild-caught salmon for our recipes because the fish is higher in Omega-3 fatty acids and is not fed colorants like farm-raised salmon are.
Can I saute the salmon in something other than lard?
Yes! On the Paleo diet lard, tallow, ghee, duck fat, olive oil, and coconut oil are allowed. Feel free to saute the salmon with any of these fats. Some will impart a flavor so choose your favorite!
To make the ultimate pairing, serve this with other Paleo treats like our Keto Paleo Coconut Sponge Cake in a Mug for dessert:

Step 1
Dry off the skin-on salmon filets with paper towels. Discard the paper towels. Season the salmon on both sides with ½ tsp sea salt and ¼ tsp of black pepper.Step 2
Prepare the lemon mixture by combining freshly squeezed lemon juice, honey, water, and garlic which you will want to grate into the mixture using a Microplane. Set this aside for now as it will be used later on. Preheat a 12” skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add in the lard and allow it to melt around the pan. Once shimmering, add the salmon skin-side down. Turn the heat down slightly. Allow the salmon to sear on the first side until nicely browned and crispy. Flip the salmon over.Step 3
Add the lemon juice mixture. Allow the liquid to thicken and caramelize. Flip the salmon over a few times to coat it in the sauce.Step 4
Set the salmon on a plate. Cut the avocados in half and remove the seeds. Serve each filet with one whole large avocado and orange.
