Keto Bacon Wrapped Chicken Thighs With Cheddar Sauce

546 ratings

Yes, you can indulge every once in a while, while still sticking to your keto or low carb diet! These bacon wrapped chicken thighs are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. However, they’re taken to the next level with a generous slathering of velvety cheddar cheese sauce! You’ll likely scarf down your meal faster than you cooked it!

Recipe Steps

  • Step 1

Prepare the chicken thighs by laying them flat on a clean surface. Sprinkle them evenly on the exposed side with salt and pepper.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Gently wrap each chicken thigh with bacon. Some larger pieces may require an extra half slice of bacon. Make sure all bacon ends meet on the underside of each thigh.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet on high heat. When the skillet is ready, place in the chicken thighs. Cook on each side for 8-10 minutes or until the chicken is completely cooked through. Set the chicken aside to rest.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

In a new, small pan, melt the butter over low heat. Gently whisk in the heavy cream. Bring the liquids to a simmer, and whisk until the fats are no longer separated.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

With the sauce on a low heat and a gentle simmer, whisk in the cheddar cheese in 3-4 additions. Stir the sauce until it’s creamy and smooth. Serve hot over the chicken and enjoy!

I halved chicken breast and added garlic, onion powder, paprika to chicken. I also added Parmesan, garlic and mozzarella cause I was low on cheddar. I also added 1/4 cup cream cheeses it was soooooooo good. Cooked chicken in oven 40 min and broiled it on each side for 500 for 2 min

Add 1/4 tsp xanthum gum sprinkled to the surface of your sauce and begin whisking the mixture while it is cooking and it will thicken nicely! 😋

Simmer for 2-3 minutes while stirring. Then let it cool a bit.

Delicious! I used the air fryer and it comes out perfect. Leftovers will be good in a salad or zero carb wrap for next day .

I’d also like to know the time and temp. I’m a novice with air fryers.

Easy & delish!!! I would half the amount for the cheese sauce…but on the other hand I now have a sauce for veggies or something else! Win win! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Honestly, I paired these with steamed cauliflower. The extra sauce was used!

Makes way too much sauce and if you fry the chicken on high like it says get ready for a house full of smoke!

Delicious. Couldn’t get the sauce thick enough but it was tasty with some added garlic. Going to use sour cream next time, or a combination of cream and cream cheese.

We substituted turkey bacon, and used white sharp cheddar. We did have to throw it in the air fryer to crisp up the bacon. Had a salad on the side. Absolutely delish!

Great combo of flavors! I was nervous about overcooking the bacon so just chopped everything up and cooked the chicken for a few minutes before adding the bacon. Would be great over mixed greens. I likely will add some onion or garlic next time.

When cooking bacon. Comes away from chicken, bacon ends up burning. Burnt bacon tastes terrible. Would be way better if cooked only in oven

Perhaps the heat was too high? “Slow and low when cooking bacon in oil”

Worked perfectly in my Ninja. Pressure cooked 10 minutes with chicken broth as the liquid, followed by 8 minutes crisping. Came out perfect, chicken was moist and flavorful and bacon crispy. Family also loved it!

Is it a ninja crispi? I've been wondering about those.

Very good. Next time I will probably cook the bacon separately so all of It gets crispy then stick it on top of the chicken. Maybe split the cheese with Gouda and cheddar and add some pepper or garlic
