Best Keto Olive Oil Fried Eggs

61 ratings

What’s tricky about fried eggs? Nothing! This easy Keto breakfast recipe is super simple. It’s meant to be that way so you can easily add breakfast to your food log without picking out individual ingredients. That’s why the recipe only includes eggs, olive oil, salt, and pepper. This recipe also leaves open the option to add other breakfast items, like bacon or Carb Manager Keto Hashbrowns. You can also include your favorite egg garnish like parsley, chives, or sour cream! If you haven’t fried your eggs in olive oil before, you’ll never want to go back after trying it out!

Fried egg cooking time

If you like runny eggs, you may only need to cook your eggs for about 4-5 minutes. Medium-fried eggs will need about 5-6 minutes. Hard-fried eggs will need 6 minutes or longer. To speed up the cooking process, you can break the whites while the eggs fry.

Other dishes to include

For simple sides, try eating your Keto eggs with fried bacon, sliced avocado, or Keto sausage bites. Side dishes that don’t need any preparation might include a handful of low-carb nuts or cubed cheese. If you have time to spare, try making one of Carb Manager’s waffle, chaffle, or pancake recipes.

Can I use extra virgin olive oil?

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) can be used to lightly fry foods. Especially since you won’t be cooking at a high temperature, you can use it in this recipe. Otherwise, just drizzle some EVOO on your eggs at the end of cooking. This is an opportune time to taste high-quality oil too.

Made these this morning. Used 2 eggs, but sprinkled with some everything but the bagel jalapeño seasoning, 3/4 tsp bacon bits, and a half tablespoon of goat cheese crumbles. Absolutely delicious!

Not a fan of the olive oil. I am going to try olive oil spray and see if that is better next time. Or skip fried eggs and go with other recipes.

Cook them with the heat low and slow and you will have very tender and not tough eggs. When done this way you'll step into a completely different reality of taste and texture for an egg like no other. It is worth the wait when done correctly. Done any other way and it's just another day. Enjoy 😉

I used a spicy Calabrian olive oil from Olive The Best in Flagstaff Arizona. Yummy eggs. I don’t like them sunny side up so I flip them

These are sunny side up eggs where I’m from but we don’t put a oil in the bottom of the pan so you can baste your eggs. We just spray a little Pam in the pan and add the eggs

I do this with bacon fat. Use enough to spoon over the eggs to cook the tops. Yum!

I generally add a bit more oil to the bottom of the pan. Then tip the pan and scoop the hot oil on top to make sure the whites are thoroughly cooked. Delicious!

So here in Pennsylvania, we call this "dippy eggs." It seems a little silly to have fried eggs with dippy egg yolks, but nothing to dip into them. We normally dip buttered toast into the egg yolks. What's something keto friendly I can dip into my eggs?

We love fried eggs but this olive oil version was not a favorite in our family. Butter and coconut oil has been a better fat to cook with for eggs in our house.
