Keto Turkish Coffee
Have your culture and drink it too! You might be familiar with Italian-style coffees - espresso, anyone? - but this Turkish-style coffee will be your new addiction. Keto Middle Eastern recipes are surprisingly simple to integrate into a high-fat and low-carb diet. Add Turkish coffee to your morning routine, and consider adding a dollop of butter instead of a liquid dairy product. This is the time to choose a good quality coffee that smells like heaven when you open the packaging. Ideally, you want to taste the richness and purity of the coffee. This is why you brew the coffee on your stovetop and take an extra step to remove impurities. Since it really takes no time at all, you’ll want to consider replacing your regular morning joe with this special Turkish coffee recipe.
What makes Turkish coffee different from other coffee?
Turkish coffee is different from other styles of coffee in many ways, including how it’s made and what it’s made of. Traditionally, Turkish coffee is brewed in a small pot called a cezve. It’s served in small glasses, like tea or espresso glasses, because it’s traditionally served dark. However, it’s common to add lots of sugar or sweetener and sometimes ground spices.
What to add to Turkish coffee
Your lowest carb option would be to sweeten your Keto Turkish coffee with liquid stevia drops. Otherwise, powdered erythritol or monk fruit is fine. Cardamom is also traditionally added. Infuse a whole pod of cardamom in the coffee or add just a pinch of ground spice. Although not as common, other “warm” spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice would also complement your coffee.

Step 1
Choose a Turkish coffee brand of your choice. If you can’t find Turkish coffee, the next best option would be Greek coffee. If you’ve never made this style of coffee before, look for imported coffees in a grocery store with an international aisle. Otherwise, you may have to make an online purchase or find a small business that sells imported Turkish items.Step 2
Add 1 tablespoon per serving of fine-ground coffee to a small pot with 4 oz of water per serving. Begin heating the water until it’s just below boiling. As you see foam begin to rise, remove it gently with a spoon. Remove all the foam or ‘scum’ off the top of the coffee, never letting the coffee reach boiling. The photo you see is an example of the foam that gets discarded from the coffee.Step 3
Stir the coffee together and add any additional ingredients you’d like. Choose your desired Keto sweetener such as powdered erythritol or zero-carb liquid stevia drops. Some Turkish coffee includes a pinch of cardamom or ground clove. Serve approximately 3 fl oz of hot black coffee per serving in a small cup or enjoy it in smaller servings like shots of espresso.
