This delicious Keto OMAD meal packs a flavor punch from pan-fried steak and egg, drizzled in a spiced chimichurri sauce and complemented by cauliflower rice and red bell pepper, as well as a hearty helping of creamy guacamole. Our ultimate low carb OMAD recipe is not only perfect for loading up on Keto-friendly fats but is also a great option for anyone also following a Paleo diet.
What is OMAD?
OMAD simply stands for ‘one meal a day’. This style of eating combines Keto with intermittent fasting and has been adopted by some Keto diet followers as a way to further weight-loss and reach other health-related goals. The idea is that you consume just one (large) meal a day, in which you aim to incorporate a generous helping of fats, protein, and calories as well as a small quantity of low carb fruits or vegetables. One meal a day recipes allow the body to consume all its daily calories in a one hour window, followed by 23 hours of fasting. There is no set time to consume your meal.
What to Eat on OMAD Keto?
As with all things Keto, fat is your friend. Your OMAD meal should include a generous helping of Keto compliant fats such as avocado, heavy cream, MCT oil, coconut oil, olive oil or cheese. The fats should be paired with proteins such as beef, eggs, fatty fish or chicken and low carb vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, spinach or salad vegetables. A great way to ensure added calories and fats can be to add Keto oil-based dressings or dairy-based sauces to each meal. If you are new to this style of eating we recommend working with a trusted practitioner who can guide you through the process and ensure you are consuming the right amount of nutrients and calories to meet your health goals.

Step 1
Finely chop the parsley and cilantro and finely dice the chili. Add to a small bowl. Add the oregano, garlic powder, a pinch of salt, the vinegar and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix together well to combine. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Set to one side while you prepare the rest of the meal.Step 2
Peel the avocado and remove the stone. Add the flesh to a mixing bowl along with the lemon juice, half a tablespoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt. Thinly slice the scallion and add to the bowl. Roughly crush everything together to combine. Taste, and adjust seasonings as required.Step 3
Finely dice the bell pepper and thinly slice the garlic. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over a low/medium heat. Add the diced bell pepper and garlic. Sweat gently for a minute or so until tender and fragrant.Step 4
Add the cauliflower rice to the skillet with the pepper and garlic. Stir well to combine and cook through for 2-3 minutes. The rice should be tender and piping hot through. Set aside and keep warm.Step 5
Heat 1/2 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet. Season the steak with a little salt and pepper on both sides. Place in the hot skillet and cook through on both sides to preference. Just before the steak finishes cooking, crack the egg into the skillet and cook through, keeping the yolk runny.Step 6
Serve the steak and eggs alongside the bell pepper and cauliflower rice and the guacamole. Drizzle the chimichurri dressing over the steak and eggs. Serve immediately.
